The Biography of the Reverend Canon Dr. Isaac I. Ihiasota

Isaac Iheanyichukwu Ihiasota (Father Isaac) was born on March 5, 1950, in Nigeria to Michael and Angelina Ihiasota (both deceased).

Father Isaac was ordained a deacon in the Anglican Diocese of Owerri in Christ Church, Owerri, Nigeria, on December 19,1976.

Ordained a priest in Christ Church Owerri, on the Feast of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, June 29,1978.

He was made an Honorary Canon of the Cathedral of the Transfiguration of Our Lord, Owerri, Nigeria, by the Most Reverend Benjamin C. Nwankiti, at the Cathedral of the Transfiguration of Our Lord, Owerri, May 1997.

Father Isaac received his theological education in both Nigeria and Great Britain.
He has a Doctorate degree (Ph.D.) in Political Science, Michigan State University,1994.
Master of Arts degree (M.A.) in Political Science, Michigan State University,1988.
Dual Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A.) in Telecommunications and Political Science, Michigan State University, 1986.
Diploma in Theology degree (Dip. Th.) in Theology, University of London, England, 1977.
Diploma in Theology degree (Dip. Th.) in Theology Trinity College Umuahia, Nigeria, 1976.

Father Isaac also attended Chichester Theological College, England in 1981, as an Anglican Exchange Student.

He visited the Holy Land in 1999.

And visits Westcott College, Cambridge, England, for yearly continuing education studies.

Since 1977, Father Isaac has served in several parishes in Nigeria, the United Kingdom and in several dioceses in the United States.

He served as a Clerical Deputy from the Diocese of Springfield and member of the National and International Concerns Legislative Committee at the General Convention in Denver, Colorado, 2000. He was elected in the Diocese of Northern Indiana as the First Clerical Deputy to the 2003 General Convention in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He served on several committees in the Diocese of Springfield, Illinois, including Standing Committee, Commission on Ministry, Province V Synod Delegate and Evangelism and Renewal.

He also served as a member of Carbondale-in-Harmony Committee in Carbondale, Illinois and a Board Member of the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Father Isaac has been on six medical missions to Africa over the past twelve years.

He comes to Saint Dunstan’s Church from serving as the Rector of Grace Episcopal Church, Fort Wayne, and an Adjunct Professor of Political Science at Indiana University Purdue University Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Father Isaac is married to Agatha Chioma Ihiasota (nee Duru) a Montessori School Teacher. Agatha has Montessori School Teaching certification, and a degree in Child Development from Lansing Community College, Lansing, Michigan.

Father Isaac and Agatha have five children, three daughters and two sons.

Their oldest son, Uchechukwu "Uche" (20), a Junior, attends the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan, pre-med program.

Their oldest daughter, Ijeoma "Ij" (18), a Freshman, attends Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia, pre-med program.

Their second daughter, Chinanuekpere "Chichi" (17), a high school Junior, will be attending Roxbury High School

Their second son, Goodchild "Goody" (14), an eighth grader, will be attending Eisenhower Middle School.

And their youngest daughter, Chiemika, "Amy" (13), a seventh grader, will be attending Eisenhower Middle School.
