Brief History
St. Dunstan's is a family oriented parish of caring, dedicated members who experience a strong sense of belonging and enjoy working together. We try to provide support and help where the need is made known. We have big hearts and great spirit and our hands-on approach to projects is reflected in our ministries. St. Dunstan's believes that its strength lies with its ministries and every one involved is proud of the services that St. Dunstan's provides.

Christian Education

The Sunday School offers classes for all ages from preschool through high school. Our program follows the curriculum of the Episcopal Church, which focuses on teaching about the Bible, the Sacraments of Baptism and the Holy Eucharist, and historical events of the Episcopal Church. At our Adult Forum, we have enjoyed topics of interest including Bible Study, Stewardship, and reflections of our rector's recent journey to Cuba and the role that religion and the Episcopal Church plays in the lives of the people there.

Youth Ministry

We are currently blessed to have a seminarian from Drew University Theological School directing our Youth Ministry. We have a Jr. Youth Group for 7-8th Grades and Senior Youth Group for the 9-12th Grades. They meet weekly at the rectory sharing a snack supper and activity for the evening. Some of the activities they have enjoyed this past year include sponsoring a summer coffee house, hosting a Halloween party for our youngest parishioners, exploring a cornfield maze, attending a retreat at Cross Roads and a Christmas party/sleepover at the rectory.

New Member Ministry

We are hoping our membership will increase in the future because we want our programs to grow and flourish. We are seeking new members by advertising in local papers and sending packets of information to people as they move into our community.

Fellowship

We have many opportunities for fellowship during the year. Once a month we expand the coffee hour to include a Brunch with a wide variety of dishes to sample. We have enjoyed progressive dinners, trips to baseball games, a summer pool party, as well as our annual parish picnic. Other events include a Mardi Gras pancake supper, Mothers' Day pancake breakfast, Welcome Back Brunch, and a Halloween Party for the youth. Special events during the year are planned as interest is shown.

Inreach/Outreach

Because we celebrate as a family, we feel we need to look inside as well as outside our family to help where needed. Inreach helps anyone within our church family who may be having a difficult time due to illness, economic hardship or other problem. We try to provide assistance wherever and whenever needed (cook an meal, give a ride, pay an electric bill, etc.) without compromising anyone's privacy. Outreach allows us to go into the community and help others. We collect coats, hats, mittens, and food for our local community as well as for Apostle's House in Newark. We collect turkeys in the fall and hams during Lent to distribute as needed. We are supported in these activities by our youth who collect soup during Lent, make Easter baskets and participate in Operation Christmas Child.

Each year we adopt a needy family through NORWESCAP and help to meet their needs throughout the year (i.e., school supplies and clothing in the Fall, Christmas decorations and gift wishes, and supplement household items and food as needed).
